Start Their Lives Out Right

Get your puppies and kittens off to a great start with essential medical care from Northwest Animal Hospital.

Since 1972, we've been helping loving pet owners like you make the most of their pets' early years.

Basic Puppy Medical Care

  • Physical examination and vaccinations for distemper, hepatitis (adenovirus), parvovirus, and parainfluenza starting at 6-8 weeks of age
  • Fecal exams to check for intestinal worms; deworming
  • Heartworm prevention
  • Spay or neuter at 5-6 months of age
  • Flea prevention (Frontline or Nexgard)

Recommended Vaccines and Exams

In most cases, puppies and kittens should receive a series of vaccines starting at 6 to 8 weeks of age and continuing every 3 weeks until they are between 14 and 16 weeks old. At the same time, our staff will conduct a fecal exam and deworming for intestinal parasites.

For kittens, additional tests for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) will be conducted through simple bloodwork.

A Lifetime of Attentive Care

As your pet matures, annual physical examinations will provide early detection and treatment of problems.

At each annual visit, we will keep your pet up-to-date on vaccinations, fecal exams, heartworm testing and we'll also dispense preventive medications.
